

Future Entrepreneurs is a free Resoure Kit that has been developed by the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade to support grade 7 and 8 teachers with introducing the world of entrepreneurship and enterprise to their students. This program supports Language Arts, Geography and History expectations as prescribed by the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines for grades 7 and 8.
Future Entrepreneurs is designed to be used as a complete unit entailing all five subtasks, and includes case studies as well as Black Line Masters for use with students. Additionally, you can select to use one or more subtasks in combination.
Subtask #1: "Promote"
This lesson will generate interest, curiosity, and questions by enabling students to explore a number of entrepreneurial opportunities, ideas, and case studies. Its goal will be to promote a desire among students to want to learn more.
Subtask #2: "Probe"
This lesson will lead students to further investigation of their personal areas of interest related to entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship, and enterprise that have been generated from Subtask #1.
Subtask #3: "Prepare"
This lesson challenges students to prepare questions that they wish to pose to a visiting entrepreneur. Students will take the initiative to help focus the entrepreneur's visit around their interests.
Subtask #4: "Present"
In this lesson, students assume responsibility for presenting their questions (developed in Subtask #3) to a visiting entrepreneur. Their questions will be designed to promote discussion, probe for answers, and engage the entrepreneur in a lively and valuable exchange.
Subtask #5: "Ponder and Plan"
This lesson challenges students to reflect back on the questions they developed for the entrepreneur, the answers they heard, the discussions they had, and to apply this to their own personal situation. Are they interested in entrepreneurship and/or the development of enterprising skills?
