Methodology
The resource package includes teacher-led and student-centred activities. The numerous real-life applications provide opportunities for students to use problem-solving, decision-making, and higher-level thinking skills. The resource package supports students in developing research and communication skills. The resource package provides students with opportunities to develop life skills, e.g., working as a team, respecting individuals' ideas, dealing with change.
Assessment
The series of questions, crossword puzzles, and section quizzes provide opportunities for assessment for learning and assessment of learning. The resource package provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning in a variety of practice situations, to self-assess, and to verify their understanding.
Format
The Parent Guide, Activity Booklets and Facilitator's Guide form a user-friendly resource. The language is clear and understandable and graphics are helpful and appropriately placed, The resource package contains suggestions for activities that direct students to use resources beyond the classroom and to involve parents in the activities. The Facilitator's Guide has an easy-to-use organization that includes program objectives, links to curriculum, videos and posters, and a program evaluation form to enable teachers to provide feedback.

The Expect the Unexpected resource package presents a balanced perspective. The resource package depicts children and youth as being capable of assuming home and community responsibilities appropriate to their ages.
