The NetTrekkers Comic Yearbook #1 supports curriculum topics in Geography and Language at the Junior level in Canadian schools.

Content
Relevant information is presented in adequate depth to support knowledge and understanding. The language of the comic yearbook is grade-level and age appropriate. The Teacher's Guide suggests various websites to support students in developing and/or building on technological skills related to these disciplines. The web links are up-to-date and relevant and provide Canadian content.

Methodology
The resource gives students opportunities to investigate and extend thinking through teacher-directed and independent activities. The resource provides opportunities for learners to communicate their learning using a variety of forms—written reports, illustrations, presentations, and research. Cross-curricular connections in Drama, Visual Arts, and Science are included.

Assessment
The Working with Text activities in the Teacher's Guide provide opportunities for assessment for learning. The Extension and Research activities in the Teacher's Guide provide opportunities for assessment of learning.

Format
The comic book format of the learning resource is engaging and supports students in accessing the content. The Teacher's Guide provides lesson plans for each episode in the NetTrekkers Comic Yearbook #1. Each lesson plan includes before, during, and after reading strategies; one or two extension activities; a research assignment; a map assignment; some suggested criteria for assessment; and an answer key.
