The resource provides current and reliable information about Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, Tourette Syndrome, and Dyslexia. Appropriate terms and vocabulary are used throughout the resource. The language is clear and age-appropriate. The illustrations support students in accessing the content.
Methodology
Each book in the series tells the story of a child with a mental illness, disorder, syndrome or disability. The positive portrayal of the child featured in each story supports students in developing an understanding of and respect for differences in others. The resource supports students in learning how metacognitive skills and specific techniques can be used to manage mental and neurological conditions. The resource encourages learners to work on coping skills within the classroom setting and at home.
Assessment
While no formal assessment is included, there are opportunities to recognize understanding and growth as the learners respond to the stories.
Format
The series consists of seven books, each one dealing with a different mental or neurological condition. The resource can be used in classrooms or at home with support, and may be particularly useful in a school's "parent library." The resource does not reference any related resources. Its own support website, http://www.wildberryproductions.ca, is clearly displayed on the back cover of each book, but there is no mention of the website's lesson plans and other resources for teachers and parents.

The We Are Powerful book series presents a balanced perspective. The resource presents a variety of mental and neurological health issues – each from the point of view of a student who is dealing with one of these issues. The characters in the stories represent a variety of ethnic backgrounds.
