We Are Powerful

Publisher's Description

The WE ARE POWERFUL children's book series was conceived and designed to introduce the lives of eight children affected with various disorders and syndromes. Each book brings to light the experiences of these children affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Asperger Syndrome (Autism), Tourette Syndrome (TS), Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and Dyslexia.

Each story familiarizes the reader with the daily joys and challenges these children experience in their everyday lives, at home and in their school setting. The WE ARE POWERFUL children's book series was written to help children and educators develop a greater understanding of each child's condition. Many affected children suffer from prejudice, social isolation, and teasing/bullying because of their behavioural and cognitive difference. This series aims to create a paradigm shift in how readers perceive children's mental and neurological conditions, with the goal of creating a greater understanding, compassion, and an environment conducive to acceptance.

The WE ARE POWERFUL children's book series is geared toward students 4–12 years old. The stories are fun, entertaining, and educational and are as essential to the classroom and school library as books on safety, family, and friendships.
