The Trésor Junior Literacy Series is a collection of readers for Junior FSL students created to help teachers and students work within a literacy framework. The series ensures that students are developing good literacy skills in their French classes that can be transferred back to other subjects. The collection is designed to spark students' interest and to fuel their curiosity as they speak, listen, read, and write in a non-threatening context where good learning takes place. The Trésor Junior Series incorporates explicit teaching through an instructional model based on the gradual release of responsibility for learning. This process involves teacher modelling, think alouds, read alouds, mini lessons, shared practice, and application. The Trésor Junior Teacher Guide recognizes the importance of teaching reading strategies, allowing differentiated instruction to reign supreme. Character education is included in each reader, and assessment, for, as, and of learning helps students improve and succeed by developing better creative and critical thinking skills, deepening their knowledge and understanding, and improving their communication skills so they can apply their existing knowledge of French in other contexts.
